DIY Asian-style seafood and rice bowls
Saturday, May. 8, 2021
One bowl, no waiting: That’s our idea of a great dinner. And when it’s easy to put together from go-to staples waiting patiently in your freezer? Even better.
Rice bowls are popular for a good reason. You get a bit of protein, some carbs and a hit of veg, all in one delicious dish. Drizzle on some of your favourite sauce and customize with a few tasty garnishes, and you have a speedy supper that’s often faster than takeout.
Thai-Style Crispy Shrimp, Rice and Veg Bowl
You may have stocked up for a party, but that Popcorn Shrimp hanging out in your freezer is the ideal secret weapon for dinner. It bakes up golden and super-crispy in just 10 minutes, and is ready to take on whatever sauce you like. (We recommend the tangy-sweet heat of Thai Sweet and Spicy Dipping Sauce to complement those little crustaceans.) Serve over rice and serve with mixed veggies, fresh lime wedges to squeeze overtop and shower everything with sliced green onions to make your inner chef happy.
Japanese Togarashi Salmon and Gourmet Florets
Juicy, seasoned fish fillets are a hyper-popular menu item in Japanese-style pubs. Tonight, try this taste sensation at home, without any messy or time-consuming prep. Our Japanese-inspired Jail Island Salmon® fillets come already seasoned with togarashi — a delicious spice blend featuring bright orange zest and toasty sesame flavours — and packed in ready-to-cook pouches. All you have to do is pop them into a preheated oven and roast according to the package directions. While you’re waiting, sauté some of our picked-at-its-ripest Gourmet Floret Medley in a skillet and toss with a little teriyaki sauce or sesame oil. Serve the juicy salmon and tender-crisp veg over a simple bowl of Long Grain White Rice and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds (and chopped fresh cilantro if you’re feeling extra). Dig in!

Customize your bowls with these yummy alternatives. And don’t forget to garnish with a little flair. Chopped fresh herbs, sesame seeds, chopped nuts and shredded nori are all fun ideas.
