South Asian-inspired dishes

Easy South Asian menu and recipe hacks

We prepare a whole range of South Asian dishes with care. We select authentic spices and seasonings, and then simmer, bake and grill up all your favourites to make a delicious night in as simple as preheating the oven.

We also have a few tricks up our sleeves for adding South Asian aromas and flavours to other dishes you might already have in your freezer. So get ready for a little mix-and-match action.

South Asian Dinner Buffet

South Asian family dinner, buffet-style

South Asian cuisine is made for sharing. So why not create a simple buffet at home for the ones you love, without ordering out or cooking all day?

Start things off with some small bites. We recommend the mouth-watering samosas, pakoras, Naanpanada™ and tamarind dipping sauce you’ll find in our Indian Party Pack (it’s certified halal). Add a plate of kabobs alongside, made with hand-cut, bite-sized all-white chicken breast seasoned with mild curry spices. We hand-grill our Chicken Satay over charcoal, so it comes to you fully cooked and ready to heat. Save the included sweet-and-spicy peanut sauce for another occasion (to stay on-theme) and serve your skewers topped with sliced red chilies.

For the main event, whip up an assortment of curries. Serve them family-style, right in the skillet, with simple garnishes to give them a restaurant-style finish. We like Butter Chicken with a coconut milk drizzle.

Offer an array of easy condiments and extras to round out the menu, such as sliced tomatoes, a dish of crunchy Bombay snack mix and a simple raita (stir yogurt with julienned cucumber and you’re done!). Add fiery chili sauce for the spice lovers at the table, and a whip up an easy creamy mint sauce — simply add chopped fresh mint to our Buttermilk Dill Dipping Sauce — to dress up anything and everything on your plate.

Add a simple South Asian twist

If you’re as passionate about South Asian flavours as we are, maybe it’s time to spice up some of your favourite dishes in surprising new ways. Simple seasonings and clever garnishes are all you need. Here’s how we like to do the twist on some of our most popular selections.

Slow Cooked Beef Pot Roast with a South Asian twist

Curried Beef Pot Roast

Heat Slow Cooked Beef Pot Roast according to package directions, adding about 1/4 cup (60 mL) vindaloo or other spicy curry paste to the braising sauce. Spoon over sliced pot roast and serve with naan.

Butter Chicken poutine

Butter Chicken Poutine

Heat Quick Cook Fries and Butter Chicken according to package directions. Spoon fries into a shallow bowl and top with butter chicken and cheese curds. Garnish with sliced green onions. Add sliced chilies if you like it spicy.

Potato Chaat made with our Mediterranean Salad and Herbed Red Skin Potatoes

Shortcut Potato Chaat

In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter over medium-high heat. Add one package each Mediterranean Salad and Herbed Red Skin Potatoes, and 1 tsp (5 mL) each curry powder and garam masala. Sauté until heated through and fragrant, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve sprinkled with sliced green chilies and a dollop of plain yogurt.

Spicy Breaded Chicken and Wing salad

Spicy Wings and Chicken Breasts

Cook Spicy Maple Chipotle Chicken Wings and Spicy Breaded Chicken Breasts according to package directions. Serve on a bed of fresh cilantro sprigs and mint leaves. Drizzle with easy creamy mint sauce (see our buffet-style meal idea, above) and garnish with finely chopped fresh cilantro and sliced red onion.
